<image:title>Team - Psychotherapy, Assessments, Trial Therapy, Supervision, Consultation</image:title>
<image:caption>Dr. Marcel PJ Peloquin, PhD, R.Psych Psychologist Dr. Marcel Peloquin earned his Ph.D. in clinical psychology at Dalhousie University and completed his predoctoral internship with the Saskatoon Health Region. Upon completion, he worked in a clinical health psychology department providing inpatient and outpatient psychological services, as well as consultation services. He has also worked in a forensic psychiatric hospital providing treatment and assessments. He has since been in private practice since 2020. He is trained to provide clinical assessments and interventions for adults and adolescents across a broad range of clinical concerns. He provides treatment for depression, anxiety, substance use, personality, eating, somatic and medically unexplained symptoms, and other serious mental disorders. As well, Dr. Peloquin provides psychotherapy for other life-interfering issues such as issues of attachment, grief, terminal illnesses, finding purpose in one’s life, anger management, reducing criminal or deviant sexual behaviors, and other emotions and behaviors which interfere with managing acute or chronic health conditions, including pain. Dr. Peloquin is passionate about providing the best outcome for his patients. He is committed to improving his skills and continues to engage in supervision and training. His primary treatment modality is Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP). This therapy may be especially relevant when other therapies have failed. He has completed five years of core training in ISTDP, attended various workshops on the model, and received individual and group supervision in this model through a review of taped sessions. He is also a board member of the Association of Psychologists of Nova Scotia. He also volunteers as secretary on a school board in Nova Scotia. He also provides cognitive and mindful therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), and Gut-Focused Hypnotherapy for Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Inflammatory Bowel Disease.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Team - Psychotherapy, Couples Therapy</image:title>
<image:caption>Danielle Comeau, RCT, CCC Counselling Therapist Danielle Comeau is a Registered Counselling Therapist (RCT) with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. She completed her graduate training working in a non-profit counselling centre. She enjoys working with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds and with varied sexual and gender identities. Danielle works with adults experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, mood and personality disorders, and problems in attachment and relationships. She works from a psychodynamic perspective, using Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP). ISTDP focuses on the ways of coping people develop in response to how they have been treated. Although these coping mechanisms helped at one time, they may now cause trouble. Understanding how these coping methods developed and protected one against complicated feelings can help people change and live more purposefully and empowered. As well as individual work, Danielle also offers couples therapy using the evidence-based Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT) model. PACT is grounded in developmental neurobiology, attachment theory and interactive regulation. Using this model, she helps couples become better attuned to each other by noticing and bringing their patterns of relating to the surface that has become automatic. Her approach is kind but direct and calls both individuals to take responsibility for their relationship's two-person psychological system. As a therapist, Danielle continues her learning with supervision, video review, training, and didactic learning.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Psychotherapy</image:title>
<image:caption>Why do we suffer? This may seem like a long list of issues, and in fact, it is. Our experience as people varies widely. The development of our relational patterns with others, and subsequently ourselves, cause different forms of psychopathology to develop in our lives. We often do not see our problems developing, but may see the portion of consequences of them in time.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Psychotherapy</image:title>
<image:caption>Where do I start? Psychotherapy starts with booking an assessment session. The initial assessment session is either two hours, or three hours (for trial therapy with Marcel), with the last twenty minutes for charting. Subsequent sessions are one hour, with the last ten minutes used for charting. These sessions will help better understand the purpose of coming to psychotherapy. We provide individual psychotherapy for adolescents and adults in-person and online. We will ask if patients are comfortable with having their sessions recorded, as we both work to review our sessions and seek out supervision to help improve our psychotherapy skills. We work with Canadian Armed Forces, Veterans Affairs Canada, and Royal Canadian Mounted Police members Couples and family counselling may be available in the future.</image:caption>
